Job Description

We are a Clinical Laboratory with a leading diagnostic facility committed to delivering accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory results that support high-quality healthcare delivery. We are driven by excellence, innovation, and integrity in all our operations. To strengthen our management team, we seek an Operations Manager with a strong finance background to oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensure operational efficiency, and support strategic financial management.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operational Management
1.1. Oversee and coordinate daily laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.
1.2. Supervise departmental heads and ensure alignment of all activities with organizational objectives.
1.3. Develop and implement operational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
1.4. Ensure optimal utilization of laboratory equipment, materials, and human resources.
2. Financial and Budgetary Oversight
2.1. Develop, monitor, and manage the laboratory’s annual budget in collaboration with the finance team.
2.2. Analyze financial performance, prepare management reports, and recommend corrective actions.
2.3. Oversee cost control measures, procurement processes, and expenditure tracking.
2.4. Support billing, pricing strategies, and revenue optimization initiatives.
3. Quality and Compliance Management
3.1. Ensure adherence to quality management systems, accreditation requirements (ISO 15189 or equivalent), and all health and safety regulations.
3.2. Support audits, inspections, and corrective/preventive action plans.
4. Human Resource and Administrative Leadership
4.1. Supervise, mentor, and appraise staff to foster professional growth and accountability.
4.2. Support workforce planning, training, and performance management.
4.3. Coordinate administrative and logistical functions to maintain smooth operations.
5. Strategic and Business Development Support
5.1. Participate in strategic planning, business growth initiatives, and partnership development.
5.2. Identify operational efficiencies and innovations to improve service delivery and profitability.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Health Administration, Business Management, or related field (essential).
2. A postgraduate qualification in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or Accounting will be a strong advantage.
3. Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations management within a medical laboratory or healthcare environment.
4. Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
5. Solid understanding of laboratory workflows, accreditation standards, and healthcare compliance requirements.
6. Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
