Job Description

The University of Zimbabwe is inviting applications for the following vacant post:

1. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY BIOSCIENCES, FACULTY OF VETERINARY SCIENCE

1.1 CHIEF TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties
• Overseeing the technical and practical aspects of Research and Development, Industrialization, Teaching and community outreach activities.
• Management of Biochemistry, Physiology, Gross Anatomy, Histology and Embryology laboratories in the department.
• Preparing financial budgets.
• Planning, procurement, storage, security and stock control.
• Production of Laboratory manuals and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Supervision of junior staff and coordinating student’s practical activities.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Chairperson of Department.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
Applicants should:
• Have a Master of Science degree in Applied Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and a foundation degree in related biological sciences.
• Have a minimum of 5 Ordinary level passes including English Language and Mathematics at Grade C, or better
• Possess leadership and managerial qualities and be highly motivated.
• Have at least, five (5) years working experience in a research laboratory.
