Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following posts that have arisen in the University:
VICE CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE
Chief Security Officer (1 Post)
The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for facilities security management as well as the management of the University’s security systems and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
 Oversee the day-to-day administrative function of the Security Department
 Ensure the security of University physical facilities, assets and staff
 Maintain law and order at University Campuses
 Develop security-related policies and recommend mitigation strategies to the University management
 Loss prevention by ensuring key control guidelines are put in place and adhered to
 Detect and supervise investigation of theft, irregularities and other security breaches and produce reports
 Report criminal cases that may arise to the Police and attend to matters at Court
 Supervise and control work activities for all Security staff
 Train security staff on security standards, policies, procedures and awareness
 Maintain a CCTV security system and work in liaison with the ICT Department in maintaining a cybersecurity system
 Orient new students on security-related matters
 Attend to calamities and incidences that may occur on Campus
 Any other related duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
 A Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management or equivalent
 A Diploma in Security Management, Police Studies or equivalent is an added advantage
 In-depth knowledge of electronic security systems and computer literacy
 At least ten years’ experience in Security Service, five of which should be at supervisory level
 Experience in a University environment is an added advantage.
