LIBRARY DEPARTMENT
CHIEF LIBRARY ASSISTANT
As part of the Research and Digital Support team, the Chief Library Assistant will assist the Research and Digital Support Librarian in developing the University’s research repository and associated research support services and systems that includes provision of training, guidance and advocacy for open access research outputs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops Information literacy skills curriculum and is responsible for Information Literacy Skills training and orientation of new students.
Uploading all research publications produced by the Midlands State University Community to the MSU research platforms (Institutional Repository and the Research Data Management platform).
Assisting in organising library training programmes for students and staff.
Providing general customer service support.
Assisting in organising library orientation.
Performing shelving and shelf reading duties.
Performing circulation duties.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
May be redeployed to any library section or university campus as and when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Higher National Diploma in Library & Information Science plus 5 years academic library experience or National Diploma in Library & Information Science plus 10 years academic library experience.
