Job Description

• Develops effective campaign strategies which bring about positive human rights change.
• Implements campaign strategies working with members, partners, and other key stakeholders.
• Produces campaigning and other materials for external and internal use in liaison with the Communications Officer and Membership and Growth officer.
• Monitors and documents human rights developments and engages state and non-state stakeholders to address gaps.
• Works closely with members in implementing campaign strategies.
• Trains members and activists in campaigning for human rights.
• Organizes and coordinates human rights campaign activities.
• Tracks results of campaigns and prepares reports.
• Manages the campaign budget under their portfolio

Duties and Responsibilities

• Strategic campaigning, including knowledge of the steps required to devise campaigning strategies.
• Excellent knowledge of international human rights law.
• Experience working and interfacing with the criminal justice system. Understanding of gender and intersectional justice.
• Experience working on Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights
• Confident communicator and presenter.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent project management and time management skills.
• Agility and ability to identify and act on human rights developments in a rapidly changing environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Excellent training and facilitation skills.

• Hands-on experience in supporting and defending victims of violations and abuse.
• Ability to motivate and inspire others towards activism for change, including through creative and dynamic approaches to encourage campaigning in the face of obstacles
• An understanding of digital campaigning tools and their appropriate use for target audiences to ensure both online and offline activism and mobilisation

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Human Rights, Gender, Journalism or any Social Science.
• Master’s degree in related field an advantage.
• 3 years’ experience working in the field of human rights
• Experience in working in the NGO sector
• Language skills in Shona and Ndebele an added advantage
