Job Description

The Butchery Counterhand will be responsible for ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service by providing them with high-quality meat products. This will involve preparing and cutting meats, packaging products, and assisting customers with their purchases. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment and adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

A Butchery Counterhand is responsible for assisting customers in a meat department or butcher shop. Their duties include:

-Greeting and serving customers:
They must be friendly, courteous, and helpful in their interactions with customers, answering any questions they may have and helping them make informed decisions about the meat products they wish to purchase.

-Preparing and displaying meat products:
Butchery Counterhands are responsible for keeping the meat display case clean and well-stocked. They must also ensure that all meat products are properly labeled with the appropriate information, such as weight, price, and expiration date.

-Cutting and trimming meat:
They must have an excellent knowledge of different cuts of meat and be able to prepare them according to customer specifications. They should also be proficient in using knives, saws, and other meat cutting tools safely and effectively.

-Handling and storing meat:
Butchery Counterhands must follow strict food safety guidelines to maintain the quality and freshness of meat products. This includes proper storage, handling, and refrigeration of all meat products.

-Cleaning and maintaining equipment:
They should keep all equipment, including knives, saws, and work surfaces, clean and sanitized at all times.

-Assisting with inventory management:
Butchery Counterhands may be responsible for monitoring inventory levels and notifying management when supplies need to be replenished.

Qualifications and Experience

At least 2 years of experience as a Butchery Counterhand or similar role
Knowledge of meat preparation and cutting techniques
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail
Good communication skills
Ability to work well in a team
