Role Overview
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving the growth of the company’s client base, increasing the company’s loan book, and fostering strong relationships with clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sales, a deep understanding of the financial needs of small businesses, and the ability to build trust and deliver value to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition and Retention
• Identify and attract new clients, particularly small businesses, through targeted outreach and networking.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business and long-term loyalty.
• Conduct market research to understand client needs and develop tailored financial solutions.
Loan Portfolio Management
• Promote the company’s loan products and services to potential clients.
• Assist clients with loan application processes, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately.
• Monitor the performance of the loan portfolio, ensuring timely repayments and identifying potential risks.
Market Expansion and Outreach
• Develop strategies to expand the company’s presence in underserved or high-potential markets.
• Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and seminars to promote financial literacy and the company’s offerings.
Strategic Planning and Collaboration
• Work closely with the management team to develop and implement business growth strategies.
• Collaborate with marketing, credit, and operations teams to align efforts and achieve business objectives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
• Track and analyse business development metrics, providing regular reports to management.
• Identify trends and insights to refine strategies and improve results.
Compliance and Risk Mitigation
• Ensure all client interactions and processes comply with regulatory standards and the company’s internal policies.
• Identify potential risks in the loan portfolio and propose mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in sales, business development, or financial services, preferably in microfinance or lending.
• Knowledge of transport and logistics will be an added advantage
