Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Business Development Lead at Paynow, a rapidly growing equal-opportunity employer within the Webdev Group. We are seeking a results-driven professional to drive business growth by identifying and qualifying opportunities across markets, clients, and partners for all Paynow products and services. The successful candidate will engage the market, close deals, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver a seamless, high-quality customer experience. This role will report directly to the Managing Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Implementation:
Develop and present the annual Business Development plan and termly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for approval by the Managing Director.
Execute and manage OKRs to achieve business development objectives.
Work with Finance to develop and manage the departmental budget.

Revenue Performance:
Achieve monthly revenue targets and take corrective actions when necessary.
Allocate and assist Partnership Development Officers (PDOs) & Business Development Officers (BDOs) in meeting revenue goals.
Implement and manage a revenue tracking system within the CRM.
Identify, qualify, and close deals with high-value clients.

Partnership Acquisition & Management:
Identify strategic partnerships in collaboration with the Managing Director and Product Managers.
Lead engagement and contract closure with high-value partners.
Initiate and oversee revenue growth strategies in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
Monitor partnership performance and provide reports with recommendations.
Collaborate with the Customer Experience team for partner onboarding and satisfaction.
Maintain relationships with partners across the Paynow ecosystem.

Marketing & Sales Administration:
Plan and attend industry-relevant events and conferences.
Work with the Marketing department to create initiatives that drive lead generation and customer acquisition.
Track and manage marketing data within the CRM system.
Ensure company documentation and supplier registrations are up to date.
Prepare and submit high-quality, compliant bid documents.

Customer Relationship Management:
Maintain and grow market share across Paynow’s B2B client base.
Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and analyze customer feedback for continuous improvement.

Staff Management:
Develop a resourcing plan with clear responsibilities and accountability.
Recruit and retain high-performing staff in liaison with HR.
Provide training and support to new team members.
Conduct regular performance reviews and address performance gaps.
Address disciplinary and grievance issues in consultation with HR.

Qualifications and Experience

A degree or equivalent experience in Sales, Marketing, or Public Relations.
ITIL 4 Managing Professional Certification.
Relevant marketing certification (IMM or similar) is desirable.
6 to 8 years of experience in B2B sales, marketing, and customer relationship management in a supervisory/management role.
Proven experience in strategic partnership management and CRM system implementation.

Skills & Competencies
Sales leadership with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proven ability to manage customer relationships effectively.
Proficiency in selling systems (e.g., solution selling, Sandler methodology).
Expertise in customer relationship management and strategic alliances.
Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
