Job Description

Advertisement Chemonics International Inc., a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Business and Finance Offer for the UNSAID-funded Feed the Future Zimbabwe (FTFZ) Fostering Agribusiness for Resilient Markets (FARM) activity. This five-year program will support farmers, their households, and communities to diversify, intensify, and commercialize their crop and livestock production to build their assets and be more able to absorb, adapt, and transform in the face of climate, economic, and other shocks, allowing them to live healthier and more productive lives. Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include
: • Support the Access to Finance Specialist in leading activities to increase financial inclusion, improve financial literacy, increase saving, and enhance entrepreneurship of farming families; • Assist the Access to Finance Specialist to connect Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and families to identify savings and other financing opportunities and coordinate USAID Development Finance Corporation (DFC) risk-sharing partnerships and lending institutions; • Support the Access to Finance Specialist in identifying and building business networks that promote access to finance, technology and markets for farming families and SMPs; • Serve as a secondary liaison between financial institutions (both bank and non-banks), value chain providers of credit, beneficiary fanners, Small and Medium Producers (SMPs), Producer Organizations (POs), and the project; • Assist POs and SMPs?to understand better how to negotiate favorable purchasing Agreements with agriculture input suppliers a nd other service providers; • Support the Access to Finance Specialist to assess suppliers of SMP credit (bank and non-bank financial institutions, value chain actors) and financial instruments to identify existing market failures and inefficiencies to providing SMP finance; • Identify training and capacity building needs for both suppliers of credit and SMPs; • Integrate gender issues using farming as a family business (FAAB)approach to help farming families develop viable farm investment portfolios and plans; • Under direction of the respective Provincial Coordinator, collaborate with Extension/Behavior Change Officers and Field Nutrition Officers to provide extension support through fie Id based technical assistance and trainings. • Work with the MEL team to contribute to the monitoring and evaluation process of the Activity as required

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:
• Degree in international development, economics, public policy, public finance, or another relevant field preferred; • Three (3) years of experience in agribusiness, banking, business development service management, or private sector development; • Experience with public-private engagement and partnerships, capacity building of local stakeholders, and donor coordination; • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative, productive working relationships with U.S. and local government counterparts, private sector associations, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders; ability to develop and implement effective partnerships with private sector entities; • Understanding of Zimbabwe country context, including significant knowledge of provincial, national or district governments; • Experience working with or for USAID-funded projects preferred. Familiarity with Feed the Future is?also preferred but not required; • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity; • Fluency in English required;
