Our organization is looking for a qualified and competent person, to join our Accounts department as a Bookkeeper. The incumbent should have a high level of precision and meticulousness to accurately record transactions.
• Numerical proficiency: Strong maths skills are necessary for calculations and balancing accounts.
• Organizational skills: Maintaining a systematic approach to record-keeping.
• Accounting knowledge: Understanding basic accounting principles like double-entry bookkeeping.
• Software proficiency: Familiarity with Sage 200 accounting software is an added advantage.
• Transaction recording: Ensuring all daily business transactions are correctly entered into the accounting system, including sales, purchases, payments received, expenses incurred, and payroll.
• Maintaining the general ledger: Checking that all transactions have been posted to the correct accounts in the general ledger, ensuring proper debits and credits are recorded.
• Bank reconciliation: Matching bank statements to recorded transactions to verify accuracy.
• Accounts payable management: Perform supplier reconciliations, matching system balances to supplier statements.
• Accounts receivable management: Tracking outstanding customer invoices and following up on overdue payments.
• Financial statement preparation: Assist in the preparation of the financial reports like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Degree in Accounting or equivalent
• Studying towards an accounting profession such as ACCA, CIMA
• At least 3 years of experience
