Job Description

We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeepers to join our accounting firm. The ideal candidates will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing transactions, and ensuring the integrity of financial data. This role is critical in supporting the firm’s accounting functions and delivering high-quality services to our clients

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record-Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including income, expenses, and other business activities.
Update and manage ledgers, journals, and other accounting books.

Accounts Management:

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Reconcile bank statements and ensure the accuracy of recorded transactions.
Monitor cash flow and prepare necessary adjustments.

Tax and Compliance:

Assist in preparing and filing VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting standards.

Payroll Processing:

Process payroll, ensuring timely payment of salaries and accurate statutory deductions.
Maintain employee payroll records and prepare reports as needed.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

Client Interaction:

Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information.
Address client inquiries and provide updates on their financial standing.
Audit Support:

Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
Address auditor queries and assist in implementing recommendations.

Administrative Tasks:

Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents.
Perform general office duties related to bookkeeping and accounting.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:
Education:

A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification or progress toward qualifications like ACCA, CIMA, or CIS is an advantage.

Experience:

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Pastel, Sage).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
Strong understanding of reconciliations and financial reporting.
