Job Description

The Job
This role is responsible for developing, implementing and managing non-traditional distribution channels focused on the mass market to increase the reach and profitability of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role reports to the Sales and Distribution Executive and the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
• Channel strategy development - developing alternative distribution channels such as partnerships, bancassurance, community schemes, digital platforms, mobile apps, and other innovative solutions.
• Developing and implementing the informal sector, diaspora (regionally and internationally) channel strategy for the retail mass market.
• Developing and executing strategies to drive sales and increased market penetration through these channels
• Building and managing relationships with key partners such as banks, churches, organised groups, associations, communities, retailers, mobile network operators, and other third-party entities.

• Collaborating with the product development and actuarial teams to design and customise products suitable for alternative channels.
• Driving the sales growth of insurance products through alternative channels by setting clear targets and KPIs.
• Preparing and managing budgets related to channel development and marketing initiatives.
• Tracking and reporting on the financial performance of alternative channels, including profitability and return on investment (ROI).
• Providing training and developmental plans to all the channel partners to ensure they understand the insurance products and sales processes.
• Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements for the channel.

Qualifications and Experience

The Person
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
• Degree in Business Management or equivalent
• Risk and Insurance qualification is an added advantage
• Three years' experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of retail mass market dynamics.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners
• Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
• Results oriented with good self- management skills.
