Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following posts that have arisen in the University:
CENTRE FOR AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
Agricultural Engineer - Farm Mechanisation (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
To provide leadership to the Centre, initiate, guide and contribute to design, applied research, innovation and industrialisation programmes in the Centre. The candidate will be involved in:
1. Training on use of farm machinery like tractors, generators, engines and any other equipment that may be used on a farm set up. This will include on farm machinery as well
as those of farmers in and around the area.
2. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas to achieve
success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.
3. In addition, the candidate will be expected to co-ordinate and participate in the supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research students and income generating projects in the centre.
4. The incumbent will supervise the team with mobile equipment servicing/testing and adjusting such components and farm machinery.
5. (S)he will be involved in the monitoring of scheduled maintenance of farm machinery in line with production requirements.
6. The candidate will also be involved in the introduction of new equipment/technologies, farm structures, plant and equipment commissioning as well as operative training.
7. Adherence to strict deadlines and quality work standards in the workshop and the centre

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have at least a Masters or PhD degree in the field of Agriculture Engineering or equivalent earned from any reputable college or University; with a Merit pass or better. Must have a clean class 4 driver’s licence with solid knowledge of basic engineering design. The candidate must be a good team player with recent design and supervision experience. Knowledge in farm equipment and structures is an asset.
