Brief about the organization
An opportunity has arisen within an organization focusing on access to justice and human rights that seeks the services of an Advocacy, Research and Strategic Litigation Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities
Proposes designs and implements high impact programming strategy
Coordinates and manages advocacy, strategic litigation and research initiatives in the organisation
Conducts strategic litigation cases working with advocates and lawyers to whom work is outsourced
Fundraises for advocacy, strategic litigation and research
Develops and manages budgets for advocacy, strategic litigation and research
Makes appearances before parliamentary portfolio committees.
Coordinates the preparation of reports for advocacy, strategic litigation and research projects
Networks and creates relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Manages performance for staff in the department
Prepares legal opinions for the organisation.
Represents the organisation at relevant platforms.
Skills and Competencies
Must have an appreciation of local and global issues relating to human rights and access to justice
Must possess sharp analytical skills .
Must have excellent litigation skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to articulate
issues in English and local languages
Must be able to manage heavy workload, frequent travel and irregular workhours.
Must have demonstrated knowledge and practice of advocacy techniques and strategies.
Must be able to identify relevant policy issues and develop a strategic approach to advocacy around issues related to human rights.
Must be creative and have the ability to develop effective campaign tools
Must be able to read and interpret legal and policy documents.
Minimum Qualifications
LLBS and Masters in Law/ Masters in Development Studies/ Masters in Business Administration
