Job Description
Job Purpose
Cassava Smartech is looking for a competent Accounts Officer to join its Finance team. The main purpose of the role is to timeously maintain and review financial records ensuring compliance with accounting tax laws. The role also drives the monitoring of expenditure, profits and consolidating business financial plans, reports and analysis by producing budget forecasts, management accounts that feed into accurate measures of business performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Input into annual budget process based on experience in claims processing
• Liaising with claims department to align of forecast claims trends and performance
• Tracking and initiating funding of claims bank accounts
• Review of daily claims batches against supporting claims files from claims department and finance claims registers
• Engagements with claims assessors on anomalies in claims batches and initiating corrections
• Recommending claims batches for payment
• Tracking claims settlement at the bank and managing timely clearance of correctional payments
• Engagements with Bank for claims settlement queries
• Initiating daily claims journals for recording in general ledger
• Completing daily and monthly reconciliations of claims bank accounts
• Completing daily and monthly reconciliations of outstanding claims
• Completing weekly and monthly reconciliation of finance claims registers with claims department claims register
• Reporting on claims statistics for internal, group and board reporting
• Preparation of weekly cash flow statements for group reporting
• Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualification, Skills and Experience
• Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• A vocational qualification in LIMA, ACCA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• 2 to 3 years' experience in a similar or related environment.
• Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to interact at all levels within the organisation and with external parties.
