Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following post that has arisen in the Council:

Main Job Function:
The Finance Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The Finance Clerk must comply with the Finance Act, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Council financial by-laws, policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Roles:
Perform the day to day processing of financial transactions to ensure that Council finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner:

Main Activities:
Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services.
Receipting and Banking
Assist in revenue collection, capturing and updating revenue records
Bank reconciliations
Prepare, verify, and process invoices and coding payment documents
Data capturing
Maintain listing of accounts receivable and payable
Maintain the general ledger
Maintain a filing system for all financial documents
Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications and Experience;
HND in Accounting or equivalent:
At least twenty three (23) years of Age;
Knowledge of pastel software or accounting package;
Knowledge of Local Authority operations, and client services skills is an added advantage.
