Job Description

We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic individual to fill the above position.

The incumbent will be responsible for providing safety management, giving advice, monitoring, and reporting in the workplace, and engaging staff in programs that ensure safe practice in the workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
The incumbent’s key responsibilities shall include but not limited to: -
• Co-ordinating, supporting, and advising the company on all aspects with regards to Health & Safety.
• Ensuring that all Health, Safety & Environment policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.
• Responding to reports of accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases and investigate the incident to determine causes and preventive measures.
• Investigating accidents or injuries that occur in the workplace.
• Establishment of workplace safety and health committees.
• Preparing and delivery of related educational programs and disseminating information to staff and management.
• Carrying out industrial hygiene surveys.
• Preparation of various documents, forms and presenting reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.
• Planning and implementing OHS policies and programs.
• Advising and leading employees on various safety-related topics.
• Reviewing existing OHS policies and procedures.
• Ensuing that all employees are trained in Health, Safety at induction and during employment.
• Identifying process bottlenecks and offering timely solutions.
• Conducting regular fire prevention and firefighting facility inspections and reporting the findings and gaps to Management.
• Ensuring personal protective equipment, or other safety equipment such as hearing protection and respirators are accessible to employees.
• Provide training and ensure proper use of PPE is being practiced among all employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Warning persons of rule infractions or violations related to safety, PPE, etc.
• Testing workplaces for environmental hazards, such as exposure to radiation, chemical, or biological hazards, or excessive noise.
• Researching and reviewing specifications for the purchase of safety equipment to ensure that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.
• Reporting the results of environmental contaminant analyses and recommending corrective measures to be applied.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• BSc Degree in Safety Management or similar field/equivalent.
• Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

Attributes

• Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
• Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
• Working knowledge of safety management information system.

• Good time-management, interpersonal and communication skills.
