International Rescue Committee is inviting applications for Relief Driver’s in Beitbridge, Chiredzi and Chipinge

Position Overview
Driving IRC’s vehicle as per IRC’s vehicle procedure; Maintains an updated vehicle log sheet by filling in all required information properly and accurately; Coordinates with staff on their travel requirements; Reports promptly to the Head Driver Mechanic any losses, malfunctions or accidents in writing immediately after events occur; Keeping the vehicle clean and in a very good condition; Cleaning of vehicles is the responsibility of driver; Support the Head driver on fuel management and reconciliation; Provide some mechanical services and technical consultations to the vehicle as required by the Head Driver Mechanic; Takes delivery of goods, supplies, etc. on behalf of IRC as required; Assist logistics department with any other duties as may be required; Follow up the periodic service of the vehicle and fulfill the necessary condition for the maintenance on time; Adhering to the IRC set speed limits 100km/hr in tared roads and 60km/hr in dust roads; Remain flexible to perform other duties as required

Key Competencies
Minimum of five years’ work as a class 2 professional driver; No road safety-related fines or convictions thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations; Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair; Knowledge (or ability to quickly learn) of HF, VHF and satellite communications equipment; Team spirit and problem solving abilities; Able to carry out limited, un-supervised tasks; Drivers must display an attitude and behavior that reflects well on both themselves and the IRC; Takes delivery of goods, supplies, etc. on behalf of IRC as required; Assist logistics department in collection of quotations from suppliers; Conduct vehicle handover checks at all times when vehicles are exchanged and report any noted anomalies promptly; Has good knowledge of geographical areas of operations.

Expected Deliverables
Strict adherence to the IRC’s vehicle policies and procedures, including the use of seatbelts by all passengers; Daily and pre-long distance vehicle checks; Accurate upkeep of the vehicle’s log sheet; Maintaining the vehicle clean, fueled and mechanically sound; Inspecting and maintaining all vehicle accessories; Advising the Head Driver Mechanic of pending inspections, insurance renewal or any defects or problems.

Minimum Requirements: 5‘O’ level; Valid Defensive Driver’s Certificate; Minimum of a valid class 2 driving license; Knowledge of operations of four wheel drive driven vehicles; Five (5) years’ experience in similar organization/ NGO working environment; Good written and spoken English; Able to pass IRC driving test.
