Construction Supervisor (8 months)

Save the Children (SC)’s Zimbabwe Programme Office is inviting applications for the below national staff position:

Construction Supervisor (Based in Harare with frequent travel to the field – eight (8) months

Key Areas of Accountability

Provide technical support to the project and local partner staff as required.

Assist in coordinating and cooperating with district council engineers.

Assess construction project requirements.

Agreeing on timescales and specifications with the district councils.

Ensure all equipment is safe, reliable and efficient.

Using computer-aided design/modelling software.

Liaising with suppliers while working closely with Supply Chain.

Producing and implementing designs and test procedures.

Presenting designs to managers and clients.

Writing reports and documentation of construction processes.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

A degree in Engineering or equivalent.

3 years’ experience in construction industry or any equivalent experience.

Experience of NGO program cycle management supervising construction.

A good understanding of at least two NGO sectoral programmes.

Significant knowledge of institutions, donors, procedures and accountability frameworks.

Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.

Experience in managing and developing a team and the ability to lead.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
