Key relationships
Internally: Director, Deputy Director, Senior Programs Officer Programme Officers, Economic Governance Officer; Externally: CBOs, Community committees, local NGOs, various networks, international stakeholders, donors, providers of consultancy services and external evaluations.

Responsibilities
The following are the key responsibilities: Help in the implementation of a natural resources and extractives governance project; Assist in developing toolkits or publications as may be necessary to ensure optimal project performance in relation to legal or policy elements of the work; Conduct policy or legal research and advocacy activities; Organise natural resources and extractive sector governance meetings with communities, parliament and CSOs; Identify potential case studies for legal research and/or policy review processes in relation to transparency and accountability in extractives and natural resources sector; Collaborate with other project officers and lawyers within the organisation in identifying new opportunities for the organization, including coming up with innovative ways of doing work in the field of extractives resource governance; Where necessary assist in case selection or public interest litigation; Work with the Media and Communications Officer in designing content for digital platforms for information dissemination regarding the projects and results; Identify and collaborate with national, regional and international organisations and other stakeholders sharing similar objectives with the organisation for purposes of promoting the work of the organization; Produce monthly reports on the activities of the project in consultation with the Team Leader; Assist in monitoring implementation of project activities by subgrantees and consultants in line with contractual agreements

Attributes and qualifications
A first degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Law or relevant first degree. A postgraduate degree in any of the above fields will be an added advantage; At least 1 year experience implementing projects related to governance, extractives and/or community legal empowerment; Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines; A valid Class 4 drivers’ licence with at least 2 years driving experience; Capable of working as part of a team in a dynamic multi-cultural setting; Ability to travel, sometimes with limited notice; Excellent Writing skills
