Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. is a German non-governmental relief organisation duly registered with the courts of law in Bonn. The purpose of Help shall be the independent and worldwide implementation of relief programs or cooperation therein, the provision for alleviation of misery and poverty, the promotion of development cooperation, development of education and information work, and enhancement of the peaceful and decent coexistence of peoples as well as support of appropriate activities in the areas stated.
Overall Job Purpose
The purpose of this post is to provide leadership of field staff and management for an Agricultural Project in the district of Chipinge and Chimanimani, funded by ADH.
Key Result Areas
Project Management: Project management and development of all field activities within the Help mandate of the project; The manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the project which includes representation of Help during relevant meetings, communication and reporting to the partner organizations, field and demonstration site control and management, monitoring and management of the activities schedule in cooperation with the field management team and District Government Stakeholders; Facilitating support to field staff in the implementation of the programme; Ensuring compliance to local government technical and reporting requirements.
Liaison and relationships: Representing Help at relevant meetings at district level; Maintain relationships with Provincial and District Authorities; Coordination with other NGOs in the same area of operation; Providing updated project progress report to the project co-ordinator and internal stakeholders
Monitoring and Evaluation: Managing M&E procedures in collaboration with the Country Director and the M&E department; Recommending further improvement of the Logical Framework; Developing and monitoring the impact indicators for project success; Monitoring sustainability of project results
Leadership and Team Building: Providing project leadership and strategic direction to field staff; Monitor performance of team members in line with set standards; Identification of needs gaps and design of training material to build capacity of staff to achieve goals
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of a BSc Degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, or related area of study or equivalent work experience; At least 5 years progressively responsible work experience in managing complex project(s); At least 3 years in a supervisory capacity or experience in managing teams; Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders both verbally and in writing; Demonstrated ability to be flexible, self-motivated, and to possess practical skills and experience, be willing to work in a multicultural environment; be a mature individual with at least senior management experience and a broad working knowledge of Agricultural production in Zimbabwe; Proven experience in managing multiple and competing tasks while maintaining quality of deliverables within deadlines; Knowledge of local languages (Shona, English desirable
