Background and Purpose
Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental organisations in the area of development co-operation and emergency relief. Primarily in co-operation with local partner organisations, its task to contribute to improvement in the nutritional and income basis for the low-income populations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe almost continuously since 1980. Sector focus is on, WASH, Food and Nutrition security, Livelihoods and when necessary Emergency response. The project objective of to support vulnerable households in Gokwe South to meet their basic food and nutrition security needs and increase their resilience to future environmental and economic shocks. These positions will be filled subject to the approval of funding.

Job Purpose
To ensure implementation of Lean Season Assistance project activities including but not limited to; project activity monitoring, community capacity building on livelihoods and household resilience strengthening.

Specific tasks and responsibilities
Project Implementation (80% of time): In conjunction with the Project Manager, facilitate the identification, registration and verification of beneficiaries that were adversely affected by the poor agricultural season to participate in the lean season Assistance initiative; Ensure commodity distribution is managed and all commodities dispatched from the warehouse are accounted for according to donor standards; Prepare relevant program reports and submit them to the Team Leader; Uphold humanitarian accountability standards; Coordinate with other WHH field staff in the implementation of activities within the Assigned wards / target areas; Coordinate closely with relevant ward level Government Officers to ensure there is a close working relationship with government interventions in the area; Ensure that field activities are implemented as outlined in the project/agreement and in accordance with the WHH operational principles; Ensure that all project interventions are carried out with full participation of the community and other stakeholders; Participate in the training of leaders and volunteers for Project implementation;

Monitor Project Implementation (15% of time): Participate in field level beneficiary verification exercise to ensure the assistance is targeted on deserving vulnerable cases; Carry out assessments and monitoring actions (including those using digital data gathering devices) in collaboration with the Project Manager and other WHH field staff and provides recommendations for the adaptation of project strategy according to findings and needs; Develop with beneficiaries/communities monitoring and evaluation plans, ensuring these feed into the Project M&E plan at an area and national level; Conduct regular meetings with beneficiaries and partners within the target wards to track progress in achieving monthly, quarterly, annual and overall objectives and targets; Work proactively with the WHH colleagues and other local partners to ensure effective use of information generated through the project’s monitoring and evaluation system to guide on-going implementation of activities.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. (5% of time): Other duties that may from time to time be requested by the Project Manager and/or their delegate

Required Skills and Experience
A minimum of a Tertiary qualification; Social Sciences, Community Development or Development Studies at Degree level will be an advantage; Well matured with the capability to effectively control, communicate and work with large gathering of people; Previous working experience in a Food Distribution Program will be an advantage; Effective communications skills and ability to network and establish collaboration with different partners and agencies; Process facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills; Ability to lead a diverse team and appreciation of team effort.
