Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental organisations in development co-operation and emergency relief. Primarily in co-operation with local partner organisations, our task is to contribute to the improvement in nutritional and income base for the low-income populations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe since 1980. Sector focus is on WASH, Food and Nutrition Security, Livelihoods and when necessary, Emergency response. For implementation of the various projects within the organization, Welthungerhilfe seeks to recruit for the above position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating with Senior Project Staff for effective implementation of project activities; Conducting training programmes regarding operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation facilities; Regular monitoring of ongoing rehabilitation activities to ensure that all the activities are executed as per design, specifications and work schedule; Preparing weekly, monthly work plans and progress reports; Verifying the work done on site and recommending the payments to contractors / casual labourers etc; Taking part in the selection, designing, pre-testing, developing, dissemination and evaluation of appropriate IEC hygiene material for effective hygiene promotion in the target areas; Developing and maintaining contacts with all relevant stakeholders including government.
As a qualified applicant, you will possess the following
Degree in Public Health, Water Resource Management, Development Studies or a related field; A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Water and Sanitation programmes, preferably in an NGO environment; Excellent report writing and communication skills; Computer skills in various MS Office applications, including any project management software/application; Clean class 4 and class 3 driver’s licence.
