Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental organisations in development co-operation and emergency relief. Primarily in co-operation with local partner organisations, our task is to contribute to the improvement in nutritional and income base for the low-income populations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe since 1980. Sector focus is on WASH, Food and Nutrition Security, Livelihoods and when necessary, Emergency response. For implementation of the various projects within the organization.
Manage the project’s financial administration
Ensuring that project funds are correctly managed according to the specifications of Welthungerhilfe and UNICEF - this includes: calling up funds, carrying out bank transactions, bookkeeping and budget control, preparing end-of-month accounts and prompt financial reports; Ensuring that documentation of data, account assignment and bookkeeping entries are carried out correctly; Ensuring costs are cleared internally within a project or between projects; Preparing annual account documents in cooperation with the Head of Project and Country Office; Instructing and advising local administrative staff on finance issues; Making purchases and awarding contracts according to the valid contract awarding regulations; Monitoring and correctly processing relief supplies and other equipment, particularly in terms of compliance with import regulations, monitoring inventory accounting, physical inventory inspections; Managing project inventory and vehicle fleet, if applicable; Checking reports and vouchers from partner organisations before they are captured in the system; Making compliance visits to partner organisations in consultation with the Country Office
Support the head of project in project administration
Supporting the Head of Project in the preparation of project/co-financing budget; Regularly informing Head of Project about the project's financial status; Assisting the Head of Project with the medium-term financial planning of the project; General project administration.
As a qualified applicant, you will possess the following
At least 5- years’ experience in a similar role in the NGO sector; Advanced University degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance or any other related field; Ability to plan and organise work, to be resourceful and use initiative; Ability to track budgets and oversee the generation of financial reports; Proven report writing skills; Excellent communication, interpersonal and ICT skills; A valid class 4 driver’s licence
