Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill a position that has arisen within a reputable Financial Services Group. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Legal Services Manager will be responsible for safeguarding the interests of the organization through legal means by executing the following key strategic functions for the Group;

Legal Advisory Services - Prepare submissions, respond to aII legal issues and represent the company in the courts for legal proceedings. Liaise with external lawyers and advocates in relation to general, corporate and litigation matters and providing guidance on how the issues are to be handled. Provide legal opinions to departments/business units and the leadership when developing agreements, communications and policies. Ensure that the company is compliant to relevant statutory instruments including all regulatory statutes.

Contracts Management - Drafting and reviewing all agreements, contracts and other legal documents on behalf of the company. Review the legal risks involved in various business deals and share the legal opinion and recommendations with management. Evaluating new business partnerships with service providers and sub-contractors. Negotiate deals on behalf of the company, in order to protect the company against legal risks and violations.

Systems of Internal Control - Liaise with key regulatory authorities and recommending changes and enhancements to existing policies, procedures and controls in order to ensure that practices are current, adequate, functional and implemented in accordance with the standard established rules and to legal standard as prescribed by the laws of the land.

Qualifications & Experience

• A first degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years working experience as a corporate lawyer with a valid practicing license. • Extensive knowledge of corporate law and regulations.

Person Specification
• A team player, highly skilled communicator with proven and outstanding written and oral communication skills. • A mature individual who is able to lead the Group Legal Department and with the ability to communicate and disseminate information to the Board of Directors and senior members of staff. • Outstanding negotiation and analytical skills.
