PREMIUM ACCOUNTING OFFICER

Summary of Key Duties & Responsibilities :
PREMIUM ACCOUNTING OFFICER
1. PREMIUM COLLECTIONS
1.1 Process standing instructions.
1.2 Undertake customer visits for premium collection.
1.3 Process claim payments confirmations
1.4 Analyse reports to ensure all premiums due are collected and statements/notices for outstanding premiums are despatched.
1.5 Review action taken on outstanding premiums.
1.6 Develop and implement efficient and effective premium collection processes
1.7 Authorise uploaded payments into the system
2. COMMISSIONS PAYMENTS
2.1 Process commissions for sales people and brokers
2.2 Review commission statements to ensure accurate processing of all commissions due within the set time frames.
2.3 Attend to and resolve commission queries.
2.4 Attend to Marketing requests.
3. TRAINING/PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
3.1 Conduct on the job training for new and existing staff members and identify skills gaps in the work of direct reports and make training recommendations
3.2 Distribute and supervise daily tasks given to subordinates
3.3 Monitor and assess performance of subordinates
3.4 Ensure compliance to Policy Administration Procedures
3.5 Plan and manage staff leave to ensure that there are no resource gaps.
4. RECONCILIATIONS
4.1 Assess and authorize correcting entries to address variances.
4.2 Review premium reconciliations
4.3 Develop and implement efficient and effective reconciliation processes and procedures
5. THIRD PARTY PAYMENTS
5.1 Review calculations and transfer of premiums to third parties at agreed intervals
6. REPORTS
6.1 Prepare and review Policy Administration reports
6.2 Review refunds to dients
7. SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENTS
7.1 Prepare, monitor and ensure compliance with set Service Level
Agreements with other departments/units and counter parties.
7.2 Manage own departmental performance in terms of agreed "Service
Level Agreements".
8. POLICY SUSPENSE NOTICE TO CLIENTS 8.1 Send policy suspense notices to clients
9. ANY OTH ER DUTIES
9.1 Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills &Attributes
+ 6 '0' Level passes including English Language and Mathematics, all obtained within no more than two sittings, preferably passed with a symbol B' or better and at least 2 'A' level passes.
+ 3-4 year Degree in Insurance/Business Administration/Accounting/Risk
Management or any related programme will be an added advantage
+ Certificate of Proficiency (COP) will be an added advantage.
+ At least one year's experience in a policy administration area of a life assurance company.
+ Computer literacy
+ Good communication skills
+ Good knowledge and understanding of insurance products.
