Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill in the vacancies which have arisen within the Council.

Town Planning Technician:Grade 12

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Job Functions
• Preparation of layout plans for residential, commercial, Institutional; industrial and other uses
• Preparation and updating of Master and Local Plans in terms of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act [Chapter 2912]
• Coordinate valuation and assessment of property
• Development Control
• Processing Subdivision of land, change of use and special consent applications.
• Preparation of land use for the town
• Coordinate land surveys with the Surveyor General's office.
• Surveying the area and identifying areas that have development potential
• Preparation of planning guidelines and sanctioning permits for development in the town
• Ensure compliance to the Provisions of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act and Town Planning Regulations
• Preparation of town planning reports
• Advising Council on Town Planning matters
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications and Experience

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
• A Degree from a recognised University in Rural and Urban Planning or equivalent
• Membership of the Zimbabwe Institute of Rural and Urban Planning (ZIRUP)
• A minimum of 3 years working experience in a spatial planning position
• Local Government experience an added advantage
• Knowledge ofGID, Autocard, 3D draughting software
• Have a sound knowledge of preparation of traffic design, town planning layouts and draughting
• Ability to interpret the Regional,Town and Country Planning Ad and other related legislation
• A citizen of Zimbabwe
• A dean criminal record
• A dean record of service within the Local Government fraternity
• Clean class 4 drivers licence
