Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement And Supply Management
Background: The Global Health Supply Chain - Procurement and Supply Management Project (GHSC¬PSM), Zimbabwe Initiative is a USAID program implemented by Chemonics International Inc. The purpose of GHSC-PSM is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of U.S. government-funded public health initiatives around the world.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The employee is responsible for the following principal duties and responsibilities:

• Provide technical assistance and logistical support for health commodity storage and distribution, liaising closely with the MOHCC and NatPharm to ensure commodity availability at health facilities in Zimbabwe.
• Coordinate and provide technical support to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) in national forecasting and quantification of health commodities and to prepare supply plans.
• Provide oversight in the monitoring and management of the pipeline of health commodities.
• Assist the MOHCC with drafting and submitting commodity procurement requests for USAID-funded health commodities.
• Coordinate closely with the GHSC-PSM Procurement Team to ensure that procured health commodities and equipment meet client needs with respect to specifications, quality, quantity and delivery timelines
• Coordinate with MoHCC, NatPharm and 3PLs to ensure adequate storage and inventory management for USAID funded health commodities
• Coordinate with MOHCC to implement technical assistance activities in support of strengthening supply chain management and coordination between MOHCC, NatPharm and the partners.
• Regularly report on stock status of commodities, as well as the performance of the health supply chain systems.
• Provide technical assistance to MOHCC in conducting and measuring performance of the supply chain through use of LMIS reports, supply chain assessments, surveys, monitoring and supervision activities at the health facility level.
• Inform project leadership of potential short-term technical assistance needs as required and coordinate with HSS Team at HQ to provide the required technical assistance.
• Assist with preparing annual work plans, quarterly and annual reports, activity reports, presentations, success stories, best practices and other related communications material.
• Provide and/or organize technical assistance and training for MOHCC staff across all levels in various aspects of health commodity management.
• Collaborate with members of the Health Systems Strengthening team focused on capacity building and MIS regarding a harmonized approach to ensuring MOHCC staff are equipped with the skills to address supply chain needs.
• Supervise Project Logistics Senior Managers across various program areas
• Represent the GHSC-PSM Project at various coordination fora
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the principal duties.
• Bachelor's or Masters' degree in health sciences, development, or related field and at least 8 years work experience in international public health programs
• Experience supporting public health supply chain projects such as HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis
• Prior management and supervision experience
• Ability to contribute to capacity-building efforts
and work with colleagues in diverse cultures
• Ability to work independently and to manage various projects on a daily basis with minimal supervision
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with other staff, USAID, consultants, MOH, and international organizations.
• Computer literacy with demonstrated use of word processing, database and presentation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills and strong attention to detail
• Excellent writing and communications skills in English required.
VII. DUTY STATION:
This position is based in Harare, Zimbabwe, with possible travel to other cities in Zimbabwe.
