Job Description
To drive the Fuel Tanker with due care and attention, load, transport and offload fuel as necessary daily, practice excellent customer care, ensure tanker is refuelled at appropriate times and to promptly report all accidents and breakdowns.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Drives tanker truck to deliver Blend and Diesel to own service stations and other clients
• Drives tanker into position to load at filling rack.
• Opens valves or starts pumps to fill tank.
• Operate pumps, valves, and hoses necessary to load and unload liquid chemicals.
• Reads gauges or meters and records quantity loaded.
• Drives truck to service stations and customer's premises.
• Connects hose to tank and opens valves.
• Records amount delivered and issues ticket to customer.
• May attach ground wire to truck.
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
• Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
• Utilise proper procedures for loading and unloading the fuel
• Fill out hazardous materials paperwork properly
• Obey traffic laws and national regulations
• Follow procedures to ensure product and vehicle safety
• Perform basic maintenance (check the tanker tires, lights, valves and oil)
• Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to vehicle before operation
• Maintain good communication with office and management personnel.
• Responsible for daily maintenance of vehicle to remain in proper and safe working order
• Responsible for notifying supervisor if vehicle needs to be repaired
• Keep the tanker clean, safe and presentable
Qualifications and Experience
- Tanker driver (Minimum of 5 years’ experience)
- Minimum of 2 A levels and 5 'O' levels including Maths and English
- Mechanics / Journeyman Certificates
- Clean and valid Class 1/2 driver's licence (Valid Re-Test)
- Age, to be between 30 and 50 years
- Experience in Freightliner and fuel Tanker trailers
- Experience in offloading and manoeuvring articulated trucks
- Valid passport
- Valid HAZMAT Hazardous Chemicals Training and Certificate
- Valid NOIC Tanker Drivers Permit/Registration
- Valid Defensive driving certificate
- Valid medical or Optical certificate (with at least 6 months prior to expiry)
- Valid and recent police clearance certificate (less than 2 months old)
- Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
