Job Description

Purpose of the job
Developing products by identifying potential products, conducting market research, generating product requirements, determining specifications, production timetables, pricing and time-integrated plans for product
introduction and developing marketing strategies.
Ensuring that all product initiatives are driven by market need and based on customer/consumer insight and evidence.
Review the Bank and determine its strengths, weaknesses, operational effectiveness and opportunities. Make recommendations based on internal and external factors to minimize risks and formulate plans to achieve
organization's long-term goals.

• Knowledge of bank products. • Qualification or proven track record in commissioning market research and using data to successfully launch and drive usage of products. • Knowledge of developing and enhancing digital products and services in an Agile methodology.

Duties and Responsibilities

MAIN FOCUS AREAS
1. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT • Identify opportunities and develop new products, using data and insight to establish the consumer’s problem or unmet need. • Identify and evaluate the product offering of competitors, to identify gaps, or opportunities to ‘do things better’. • Establish and manage a process for generating, evaluating and filtering ideas. • Preparing and presenting a business case for investment, develop, pilot test and launch new products. • Ensuring that every offering is clearly differentiated, quality assured and aligned to brand and strategic priorities. • To ensure that all products offered are in-tune with customer needs and deliver an excellent member/user experience. Codeveloping systems and processes (alongside the Head of Payments and Digital Financial Services) for measuring product usage and making recommendations to enhance performance. • Ensure that new product initiatives are validated with users to ensure that the right product is built. • Develop product management processes, procurement and management of relationships with product suppliers or providers, alongside the Head of Payments and Digital Financial Services or Business Unit Heads. • Develop the messaging of all products to articulate a clearly defined and differentiated proposition, within the context of the wider membership proposition. • Create and champion the product portfolio, working with each specific product/business manager. Acting as product champion to help all staff and ambassadors to engage with various audiences to encourage usage. • Define the relationship between master (RPS) and product brands to enable the society to clearly articulate product, proposition and provider. • Responsible for Product Governance Process. 2. STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT • Review and Recommend improvements to existing business strategies. • Work with the team members to develop Innovative Business techniques and models to optimize business functionality and performance. • Identify Business Gaps and propose corrective actions. • Recommend Business Improvements based on market and competitive trends. • Develop Business cases based on business analytics and competitive advantage. • Perform business analysis and reporting to management for decision making purposes. • Assisting with ensuring project prioritization across business units. • Tracking and reporting of strategic progress.3. TEAM LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT AND MENTORING
• Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, focusing on all aspects of sound people management. • Recruitment. • Development/ training for own team (and other relevant areas across the bank) • Performance Management. • Remuneration and Rewards. • Career path planning and succession. • On-the-job training, coaching & mentoring. • Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability. • Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display appropriate creativity and initiative. • Work closely with the team to define their performance objectives and grow their skills where needed.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• Relevant business Degree (e.g. Bachelor of Economics, Business Administration with a Marketing major etc). • 5+ years’ banking experience with significant exposure to Banking Products and Strategy. • A previous role with management experience is preferred. • Experience of communicating product performance to stakeholders.

• Easily adapts to change. • Good negotiating skills. • Strong analytical capabilities. • Successful candidate will work well with others, be able to influence opinions and make hard decisions. • Strong, effective communicator. • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects. • A proven track record in delivering new products and services, within a complex stakeholder environment. • Experience in managing a broad portfolio of products and services, across different life-stages. • Product and/or project management experience within a service industry to increase recurring revenues. • Excellent written and communications skills. Experience of designing product mock-ups or simulations.
