Solar System Design and Provision Consultant: CAMFED

Background
CAMFED is a pan-African movement, revolutionizing how girls’ education is delivered. Together, we multiply the number of girls in school, and accelerate their transition to livelihoods and leadership.
Objective
CAMFED is looking for technical expertise and guidance from qualified people on the designing and provision of a solar system that will meet the needs listed below for its Headquarters as well as District Offices. This consultant should provide all the technical specifications and recommend the brands which are durable and best fit for use.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work and Expected Outputs
The scope of work and expected outputs/deliverables are: Site visits to CAMFED offices to determine how much energy the centre use and power needs; Evaluate aspects of CAMFED operations/ power use and make recommendations; Advise on the most appropriate operations and maintenance contracts with potential Suppliers; Advise on competitive and durable power storage options for the resource centres; Advice on the most appropriate equipment for the needs identified; Advise on safety requirements for the proposed sites; Recommend security requirements of the proposed equipment for the Offices; Produce a well-written and comprehensive recommendation document; Assist procurement team members to decide on a supplier to use including attending procurement meetings to review quotes and proposals; The consultant should not be linked to any of the potential suppliers to avoid any bias towards any service provider.
Duration
The detailed assignment timelines shall be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
Bid Format
Technical and Financial proposals not exceeding 6 pages including profile of the consultant explaining why they are the most suitable for the work should be submitted for consideration.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, Experience, and a sample of work
A post-graduate or equivalent qualification/ degree in electrical Engineering or any other relevant discipline; At least 5-7 years of prior work experience in dealing with solar systems; Recent CV; References and samples of similar work done before.
