Research Manager - Statistician Ref: Hr/Rms/10/2020 Head Office
Job Summary
To develop and supervise the development of best-practice mixed methodologies in data mining, modelling, analysis, interpretation and presentation. This position reports to the Assistant Director Test Design, Educational Assessment and Measurement.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Plan, maintain and document computer data file structure and complex statistical data bases. Perform and supervise data entry.
• Implement policies, apply statistical theories, methods and procedures related to various ZIMSEC programmes.
• Deliver organisation-wide statistical programs.
• Provide technical support and expertise in quantitative methods to ZIMSEC departments/personnel.
• Engage in special projects allocated by Senior Management and ensure that deliverables are met timeously.
• Liaise with Research Managers on research projects, training programs, assessment schedules. Decide what data are needed to answer specific questions/problems.
• Determine methods for finding or collecting data.
• Design surveys/experiments to collect data.
• Collect, Analyse, Interpret and Report conclusions.
• Produce plausible variables for large scale assessment and pre-tests.

Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Bachelors Degree in Statistics/Operations
• BSc in Mathematics or related field
• Masters of Science in Operations Research, Statistics or related field
• Certificate or diploma Psychometrics an added advantage
• Certificate or diploma in Education an added advantage

• Ability to compile and organise statistical information
• Retrieve and present findings to management
• Experience in working with private and sensitive information.
• Confident in decision making and ability to explain choices and processes as needed.
• Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary data bases software such as SPSS, STATA, Conquest, MS Access, MS Excel.
