Job Description

Zimbabwe Power Company is the leading generator of electrical energy in Zimbabwe and supplies the bulk of the nation's electrical power requirements from its five power stations. ZPC is undertaking various projects that are meant to dose the gap between electrical energy demand and supply. The company is now on the execution stage of the 600MW Hwange Power Station: Expansion Project. We are therefore inviting suitably qualified and motivated persons for the following 20 various vacant positions of the project that have arisen on a fixed term contract bas is of up to 18 months.

Quality & Risk Engineer(X1) Ref: Zpchr05/01/21

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in formulating long term Risk Policies and procedures to go/ern Quality and Risk performance pertinent to Hwange Expansion Project
• Advices staff on necessary Quaky and Risk safety policy changes and reviews
• Provides functional technical expertise to supervisor and other members of staff within Hwange Expansion Project
• Identify opportunities to improve the risk selection and assignment process to aid efficiency and improve timeliness based on various risk characteristics and locations
• Conducts training on Quality Management System
• Performing risk assessments through analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting or have potential to affect the project
• Performing a risk evaluation: Evaluating the company's previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
• Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met and document results and findings after inspections are carried out
• Collaborate with relevant teams and departments to improve products
• Conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors
• Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience. (advising the board of directors about the most significant risks to the project, ensuring team leaders understand the risks that might affect their departments and ensuring individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks)
• Participates in vendor quality assessments and FAT

Qualifications and Experience

• A Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• Four (4) years postgraduate experience in power generation or heavy industry
• Experience in ISO certification and post certification monitoring
• Strong Project Management, Planning and Co-ordination skills
• ECZ registration and/or membership of a professional engineering institution
• Project management certification an added advantage
• Analytical s kills, Commercial awareness and an eye for detail Commercial awareness
