Job Description
Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to provide an accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. To provide timely and accurate reporting and control of OPCO fixed assets and capital projects (work in progress). Its purpose is to allocate tag numbers to fixed assets to effectively track them from time to time. Record in the accounting system newly-acquired fixed assets and those disposed. Track, compile, and record project costs in fixed asset accounts; close out the accounts at the completion of the projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Reconciles open network equipment purchase orders. i.e compare contract values vs delivered equipment.
• Tracking and follow up equipment and assets paid for but not delivered to ensure the business is not prejudiced.
• Allocates payments made for purchase orders and allocates to different aspects of a purchase order for equipment and services.
• Prepares reports on purchase order status for various stakeholders depending on requirements.
• Prepares monthly reconciliations of equipment supplied by vendors.
• Prepares monthly reconciliations for the audit file.
• Prepares monthly project status reports.
• Monitors the implementation of capital projects.
• Design, implement and monitor processes and procedures that ensure the accurate recording and accounting of the fixed assets and capital projects.
• Ensures correct asset descriptions and proper classification are applied for all capitalized assets.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
• 6 “O” Levels including English
• 2 “A” Level passes
• Degree in Accounting or equivalent. A professional qualification in CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
An experience of two years in this position or similar environment is required.
