Job Description

The role will involve supporting and managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes, including assisting in disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programme. The role will contribute to the implementation of the Christian Aid policy and strategy. The role will also assist with and promote communications and fundraising from institutional donors and representing Christian Aid in relevant platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key outcomes
• IAPG project delivered on time and to budget
• Compliance with financial policies and procedures including reporting requirements and contribution made to other team members in the development and implementation of partner capacity building and training.
• Support development of proposals based on strong planning and evaluation procedures using Christian Aid’s internal systems
• Positive relationships developed with partners through effective communication.
• Strong linkages between partner work and advocacy, communications, and fundraising roles within the UK.
The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with PROMISE and other internal systems for the successful implementation of the project. The PO is expected to lead in monitoring and documentation
and is accountable for timely delivery of the IAPG project.
Analytical skills
Situational analysis is critical for this role to ensure that the project is responsive to the changes in context and to the needs of faith communities and governments. Analysis of national policies and laws is required in order to ensure relevant advocacy strategies are developed and complementarity with existing strategies and laws. The role needs to analyse messaging on electronic platforms and hard copy IEC materials as well as scrutinise expenditure and impact in the intervention. Considerable tact is also required in working with faith institutions and government as power holders do not easily change.

Qualifications and Experience

Applied skills/knowledge and expertise
Essential
• Graduate in Social Science or equivalent.
• 3 years’ experience working with institutional donor funding
• Monitoring and evaluation qualification and or experience
• Understanding of financial controls and procedures
• Understanding of issues of Faith, gender and working with men
• Familiarity with programme cycle management approaches and tools – including participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation
• Direct experience of programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation and of developing partners’ capacity
• At least 1-year experience supporting partners to incorporate inclusion, gender, HIV and accountability methodologies
• Understanding of advocacy, campaigning and lobbying
• Experience of facilitation, training and network building
• Experience in donor reporting
• Experience in grant management

Desirable
• Masters qualification is an added advantage
• Understanding of Faith communities and their unique needs
• Understanding of partnership approach to international development
• Understanding of gender and inclusion
