Job Description


Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above position, which has arisen in the Procurement Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the C.E.O, the successful applicant will, among other key aspects, be responsible for:
Developing and implementing the procurement strategy for Gain Cash and Carry in line with Gain growth ambitions.
Negotiating and securing profitable supply arrangements. Foresee and plan for changes in comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and Gain.
Exploring new procurement opportunities to ensure business growth.
Overall company gross margin - dollar and % margin target.
In liaison with operations - achievement of company turnover target.
Attainment of an appropriate ideal working capital model.
Management of the demand planning process by store, by region and by category.
Lead in staff capability initiatives in liaison with HR.
Demonstrable annual cost savings via commercial, negotiation and strategic initiatives.
Crafting and executing winning trade promotions, with supplier collaboration.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
Relevant first degree. Post graduate qualification is an added advantage
Proven working experience as a procurement director, 7-10 years in wholesale/retail operations
Working knowledge of finance or accounting with reference to budgeting, cost management, accounting, pricing, margin management and risk management
Strategic mindset coupled with deep problem-solving skills
Strong aggressive negotiation skills accompanied by instinct to close the deal
Commercial acumen skills to structure supplier deals which brings competitive pricing resulting in enhanced margins
