Job Title: Operations Manager

Background
We are a mining company whose purpose is servicing the base mineral industry. We promote formation of sustainable partnership and relations with our stakeholders. We are focused on supplying expert and professional services in materials handling, bulk hauling, surface/shallow mining, logistics and land rehabilitation. Our company currently mines manganese ore, lead ore, iron ore, zinc ore, tin ore, copper ore and excavate.
Duties and Responsibilities
Roles and responsibilities.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Operations Manager is responsible for among other duties:
• Accountable for the entire logistics chain at all mining sites
• Managing project schedules to ensure deadlines are met and team members are kept informed on progress
• Maintaining and fostering a working environment which prompts safety in all that we do, whilst also providing outstanding service
• Leading by example at all times and demonstrating high performance through clear expectations and direction
• Leading the development, implementation and continuation of required mine planning, systems and processes
• Ensuring the safe, timely and efficient delivery of the operations targets whilst continuing to drive standards, reduce cost and improve output.
• Developing and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
• Ensuring the efficient utilisation of people, assets and equipment among other duties.
• Conduct periodic site visits to monitor implementation of program activities and achievement of program objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
Successful applicants must be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related fields and should have graduated from a recognised institute.
A Masters Degree is an added advantage The candidate should have prior experience in a similar role.
Skills and Attributes
The Programs Manager should have:
• Positive approach to implementation and execution of pragmatic safety management
• Demonstrated experience managing successful Mining Operations
• Strong understanding of Safety Management and associated legislative requirements
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated success in leading and developing diverse teams
• the ability to command respect and to create a sense of community among the members of the project teams
• good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling
