Job Description

The Organisation of Rural Associations (ORAP) presents an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and motivated candidates to fill the following vacancies. ORAP is a leading local NGO involved in development and relief (emergency) work in rural communities in Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Midlands provinces. It exists to fight all forms of poverty among the rural and urban grassroots communities of disadvantaged women, men and youth through the empowerment of people by facilitating their development in their diverse cultural contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising subordinates
• Coordinating the work of the programme teams, including evaluation, training and team building
• Representing ORAP in programme consortia and other partnerships
• Developing institutional guidelines for all programmes
• Participating in fund raising meetings with stakeholders
• Ensuring quality programme development through timely communication and planning in consultation with the CEO and subordinates
• Building linkages with existing/potential funding and donor agencies
• Keeping abreast of growth opportunities
• Making policy recommendations and interpreting policies for their implementation.
• Recommending to ORAP the course of action to take on emerging issues in Zimbabwe.
• Upholding the ORAP Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan
• Promoting ORAP image (public relations) through a communications strategy
• Attending rural community meetings
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the CEO

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Economics, Public Health or related field.
• A Master's Degree is an added advantage
• Minimum of five years in developmental work at a managerial level.
• Minimum of five years working in a rural environment
• Traceable record of working in areas with culturally sensitive communities
• Traceable problem-solving experience
• Should have previously worked with people of different age groups in culturally diverse environments

Attributes:

• Sound computer skills and familiar with software packages used at ORAP
• Proven project management skills
• Effective spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Holder of valid Class 4 driver's licence
• Ability to work independently and a good team player
• A self motivated individual, who can work under pressure with minimal supervision
