Role overview
Service and repair all APOPO vehicle in line with best practice and ensure a functional fleet with zero
disruption to operations

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities
• Service and repair all APOPO vehicle in line with best practice and ensure a functional fleet with
zero disruption to operations
• Determine when and what kind of maintenance the vehicle needs, keep track of general
maintenance schedules, especially car tire condition and report to Procurement & Field Officer
(PFO) for action
• Ensure sound running of the vehicles assigned and arrange minor repairs where necessary;
• Check oil, water and tires properly and keep the vehicles in clean condition, both inside and outside;
• Update monthly mileage records and provide data to Procurement and Field Officer for monthly
operations reporting;
• Conduct weekly vehicle inspection and submit forms to the Procurement and Field Officer;
• Transport and Logistics Support for the APOPO Mine Action Zimbabwe program;
• Provide transportation for the Program, staff pickup and drop off and transport of visitors as
directed by the Senior Managers;
• Assist program teams and advisers in the facilitation of driving licenses
• Proactively assist teams and work flexibly across the program;
• Supervise drivers
• Keep a logbook of all vehicle use and travel, and register transportation requests with the
logistics manager.
• Follow up on safety sticker renewal, TIP renewals and registrations for all vehicles;
• Prepare and submit requirements for vehicle maintenance to the Procurement and Field support
Officer;
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and competencies
• Motor Mechanic Journeyman Class 1
• Minimum of 3 years working experience as a mechanic
• Valid Driver’s License
• Valid Defensive License
• Valid Medical Certificate
Knowledge and Experience
• Proven experience with 4×4 Landcruisers
• Experience of driving 4×4 Landcruiser vehicle is required;
• Engaging low and high four-wheel driver
• NGO experience preferred
