Job Description

The client are attorneys located in Harare and they are seeking an individual who can work as part of the team in a full time role. As a legal secretary, the incumbent should have accounting or financial knowledge and experience with filing of annual and/or quarterly ZIMRA returns. The incumbent should be highly organised, well groomed and self motivating with a ‘can do’ attitude.

The role of a legal secretary is to undertake all administrative duties that include, though not limited to customer care, diary management and supporting the Senior Practitioner with court dates, upcoming schedules and meetings. In addition the successful candidate should preferably possess some working knowledge of drafting conveyancing documents.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To be able to format legal documents as per requirement
• To have the ability to prepare invoices, expenses and reimbursements
• To arrange and liaise dates for meetings and conferences as required
• To have an ability to maintain a data base for lawyers
• To archive inactive files and create new ones as required
• To be competent at providing coverage when other secretaries are on leave
• To efficiently organise the diary, court dates and meetings of the lawyers
• To have good numeracy skills for the need to do budgeting and procurement

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant qualification

• Relevant experience in a similar role

• A working knowledge of conveyancing documentation
• Proficiency in ZIMRA tax returns and book keeping

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills including but not limited to word, excel and power
point
• A well groomed and articulate motivated team player
• Consistent positive attitude with a ‘can do ‘ mentality
• High attention to detail, including exceptional proofreading skills
• Proven discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive
information.
