A new organization that seeks to exonerate wrongfully convicted persons and advocate for Criminal justice reform in Zimbabwe is seeking to recruit an individual with good research and drafting skills . Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill in this position
Representing the organization in specified state level task forces
Preparing for and testifying at legislative hearings
Sparking public interest in the need for innocence reforms
Cultivating champions for reform among legislators and other leaders in state and local government
Working to enhance the Initiatives presence and establishing formal roots and allies for the work
Facilitating the initiation ,leadership and execution of advocacy campaigns on priority issues
Analyzing and synthesizing research
Participating in the drafting of legislation ,op-eds and when appropriate other advocacy support material
Identifying social and other media tools needed to advance specific efforts
Skills and motivation to interact effectively with a wide variety of people of diverse professional and cultural background and views
Ability to work collaboratively as an integral part of a team
Sound judgment , a high level of personal and professional confidence and strong interpersonal ,diplomatic and communication (verbal and written ) skills
Social savvy
Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a high pressured environment
Ability to work independently ,assess priorities and take initiative to excel without significant supervision
Passion for the Initiatives mission and a commitment to criminal justice reform
A sense of humor
Ability to travel extensively
A minimum of two years legal experience
A Bachelor of Laws Degree from an accredited University ( A Masters degree will be a added advantage)
Registration with the Law Society is a MUST.
Experience in building ,leading and/or motivating the productive work of legislative coalitions
Knowledge in forensic science or keenness to learn
