Job Description
The position requires involvement in crafting of the strategic direction of the Laboratory. Main responsiblilities include the financial and operational performance of the Laboratory and being accountable for directing, planning , organizing and motivating employees in the performance of their responsibilities and functions.
The main objective is to oversee all aspects of day to day laboratory functions to ensure the laboratory meets operational and customer expectations in a timely and effective manner while in compliance to corporate quality, enviromental , Health and Safety requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Accountable for managing all aspects of the operation and for ensuring that the Managing Director is kept current and informed on all aspects of the laboratory activities that have any direct and indirect impact on finances, customer service, quality assurance, health and safety.
2. Solving of the day-to-day production and process problems, providing technical, operational leadership and guidance to all staff.
3. Participate in business development activities to expand the business operation.
4. Assist with development of laboratory policies and procedures; ensuring they are understood and adhered to by all personnel.
5. Monitoring and reporting weekly highlighs, monthly revenue pedictions and production status.
6. Follow industry and corporate regulations and policies for safe handling and disposal of samples.
7. Ensure the Laboratory adheres to all legal requiremnents and maintain valid certifcation.
8. Assist in maintaing laboratory supplies inventory.
9. Maintain laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards, developing operations, quality and troubleshooting procedures; staff compliance, certifying instrument performance.
10. Maintain laboratory information systems [LIMS].
11. Represent the business to clients, peers and employees.
Qualifications and Experience
> HBMLSc. [Medical Laboratory Sciences].
> Two [2] + years of of progressive management and supervisory experience in a medical laboratory.
> Current Practicing Certificate from the Medical Laboratory Council of Zimbabwe [MLCZ].
> Knowledge of Government laboratory compliance standards.
> Computer skills to include proficiency in MS-OFFICE packages.
> Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
> Strong critical thinking, creative problem-solving, training, teambuilding and mentoring abilities.
> Excellent verbal and writtent communication skills.
> Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail.
> A demontrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
