The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the– International Market Development Lead (Part Time) for until end of the year ( December 31, 2021) at London or any existing Save the Children office location. This role will work closely at FR and Marketing Director Level to focus on building capacity and driving fundraising excellence by supporting priority markets and Members with either current high income, or high income potential that seek support and partnership from and with the Global Fundraising and Marketing Hub.

The International Market Lead is also responsible for supporting and promoting best practice and innovation across their portfolio of markets and in priority regions and will have the opportunity to lead or support Global Priority Projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

High Income and High Growth Potential portfolio of Member Markets.
• Strategic partnership with Members in high value and high growth potential markets to identify, through benchmarking and best practice reviews, the income potential and the support required to unlock this potential, including capacity building and investments.
• Where high value and high growth potential Members seek support, agree a top line market development plan with the Member.
• Provide tailored support plans that feature advice, capacity building and hands-on support as appropriate to high value and high potential members as agreed in a market development strategy. Through working with Specialists in the Hub, agree highest potential impact from their support on Corporate, Major Donor, Humanitarian, Individual Giving Recruitment and Donor Development income streams.
• Include in a partnering agreement, in addition to the support from the Hub to Members, the support and participation the Member will provide to Global Projects, other Members and to the Hub.
• Support Members with high growth potential in the preparation of applications for investment internally and / or from Save the Children investment funds.
• Assist members in their Portfolio, as the first point of contact, with understanding and engaging with SCI on fundraising issues and support Fundraising and Communications staff and groups to engage with Members optimally.
• Lead multi-member strategic working groups encouraging cooperation and collaboration across members within their portfolio.

Strategic Support and Markets Development Overview
• Contribute to the development of the overall Global Fundraising and Marketing Hub strategy and the Global Private Sector Fundraising Framework. In particular leveraging the insights in the IFL Peer Review and INIDIGO reports in addition to internally generated reports.
• Work with markets in agreed portfolio with high USD$ growth potential to produce ambitious long term fundraising growth plans, backed by strong long term investment cases as key inputs to the global strategy and long-term SCA (federation) plans.
• Represent the Global Fundraising and Marketing Hub as necessary on regional and global strategic working groups to ensure that the Member fundraising perspective and strategy is championed and understood by all key stakeholders.
• If required work with Regional Offices to ensure strategic alignment with the private sector fundraising growth strategy and objectives.
• Lead or Co-Lead the development of the Global Fundraising and Marketing Forum to catalyze the Global PS Fundraising framework (at time of writing in Q2 2022).
• Ensure that a baseline of capability building and assets are being provided to all Members through practitioner groups, shared services and collective action in addition to the focused support provided through the portfolio approach.

Innovation, new market and other global opportunities to support income growth
• Identify major innovations amongst peer organizations or Members that can potentially be adopted globally or upscaled.
• Support with research and feasibility studies market opportunities and innovations with significant growth potential for Save the Children fundraising. Working closely with the SCI analytics team.
• Identify and scope Global Projects or workstreams agreed as part of the Global Private Sector Fundraising Framework e.g. developing a Global Peer-to-Peer Support Network e.g. a new market entry feasibility study.
• Provide support / and or project leadership where required for new market and global opportunities
• Identify and support opportunities for collaboration between fundraising teams, with a particular focus on strengthening collaboration on strategic areas of collective action (known as Gamechangers and Accelerators)
• Provide ongoing supervision of SCI managed growth investments and project budgets

Reporting, Budgets and Finance Support
• Support the development of annual budget process with Members and the Hub
• Support markets with the SCI reporting process including development of budgets and reports with SCI member finance leads and the rest of the team.
• Report with narrative on quarterly member performance of Members in their Member Portfolio working closely with the SCI analytics and finance team
• Continuous monitoring of performance to flag potential risks or performance issues to create early warning systems – backed up with crisis management when needed.
• Accountable for ensuring that agreed plans and budgets and related reporting requirements are delivered and report to agreed Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS
A university degree in business/marketing, social sciences or a related discipline and/or relevant work experience at the professional management level, with private sector fundraising experience in a not-for-profit organization, or an international organization, or a marketing/fundraising consultancy firm at an international level.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
• A strategic thinker with strong tactical skills and experience
• Significant marketing / fundraising experience with a proven track record of delivering high-income growth in at least two markets, and ideally at Fundraising or Marketing Director level.
• Proven expertise and up-to-date knowledge of global fundraising techniques, channels and products.
• Experience of a market start-up / fast growth phase for a fundraising or marketing operation.
• A strong understanding of the business infrastructure and leadership requirements of expanding organizations.
• A strong understanding of business and financial planning, budgeting and budget management.
• Good project management skills, and proven ability to devise and operate to contingency plans where necessary.
• Good analytical skills and the ability to analyze marketing and financial data and produce effective management information.
• Experience of managing teams, consultants and agencies.
• Experience of managing and working in cross-organizational working groups with strong co-ordination skills.
• Excellent communication skills with an open-minded attitude.
• The ability to influence and motivate others and to foster collaboration; to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures, and to act with credibility, tact and diplomacy.
• Verbal and written fluency in English.
• The ability to travel. International travel will be required to carry out this role when virtual working and remote management is not optimal.
Desirable:
• Experience of living and working for extended periods in countries with different cultures
• The ability to work in a second language. Ideally, this would be a language from one of our Members
