Job Description

JF Kapnek a registered PVO which has been operating in Zimbabwe since 1986 whose mission is to improve family health, reduce child mortality and create educational opportunities for the children of Zimbabwe through the implementation of scalable, sustainable programs is seeking to fill the vacancies below:

Duties and Responsibilities

The objectives of the position
A. Organizational Strengthening:
o Ensure that Human Resources needs, and constraints are taken into account in the preparation of projects
o To set up and manage a forum for regular discussion between employees and management
o Support the Country Director in promoting and searching for opportunities for organizational strengthening
o Representing JF Kapnek Trust to outside bodies on issues of Human Resources and developing a network for the exchange of information and good practice
o Maintaining substantive dialogue and general communication bringing together all levels of the Organization
B. Human Resources Policies and implementation of collective procedures:
o Implementation and regular review J.F. Kapnek Trust’s Human Resources Policy, and other associated policies
o To implement relevant Codes of Conduct, to ensure that the J.F. Kapnek Trust and its employees are conforming to legislations in dealing with discipline
o Identifying legal, social, and financial risks associated with national Human Resources policy
o Maintaining close relations with local authorities in the domain of Human Resources (NEC; Employers Association etc)
C. Recruitment and selection of the right skills at the right time
o Ensuring that the Kapnek Trust recruitment policy and processes are in line with national laws and best practice
o Provide leadership in the implementation of the recruitment and selection policy
o Defining and implementing the induction process for new employees
o Providing support to field team in the field in implementing the tools and procedures of recruitment and selection
D. Training of employees and promotion of career development
o Implementing a staff performance management system
o Communicating of performance evaluation tools (Job Descriptions, evaluation forms, timing, and feedback) through training of all staff
o Identify, recommend, and implement relevant training opportunities for staff through
o Proactively look for opportunities for staff development that can be supported by the organisation
o Providing support to field team in the field in implementing the tools and procedures of induction, training, and career management
E. Compensation and Benefits
o Implement or recommend for an equitable salary system through regular remuneration
o Perform regular reviews and updates to ensure that jobs are correctly graded
o Support the Finance and Administration Managers in organizational benefits administration by ensuring timeous processing of the payroll schedule
o Ensure standardization as far as possible across the organisation in terms of benefits, salary bands, etc.
o Review and monitor staff benefits paid by the Organisation such as loans, advances and other benefits
F. Human Resources Administration
o Maintain staff records by updating to comply with legislation; good practices
o Develop monthly HR update reports for senior management team for their decision making
o Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel related data

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements
• BSc Human Resources / Psychology / Sociology
• Professional qualification such as IPMZ/Master’s degree in HR or relevant discipline
• Eight years progressive experience in HR with at least three years at HR Manager level
• Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, labour laws and regulations
• Good communicator with an ability function as a catalyst and coach
• Strong work ethic coupled with enthusiastic and passionate approach to work
• High degree of professionalism and integrity
• Ability to demonstrate good judgment
• Proficiency in usual desktop software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender, and backgrounds
• Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results
• A principled leader
• Fluency in English. Shona; Ndebele an added advantage
