Duties and Responsibilities

The Head Ecologist will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic ecological monitoring and research program in the Savé Valley Conservancy (SVC), based on needs of conservancy members and guided by international best practice. S/he will be responsible for conducting research, supervising and guiding the research direction of visiting scientists and students, and ensuring all data is collated, analyzed, made available to SVC members and published in peer reviewed scientific journals.

Please only apply for this position if you meet all of the following criteria: Recent MSc or PhD in a suitable field (ecology / zoology etc); Excellent knowledge of current best survey and monitoring methodology (fauna and flora); Excellent data analysis capabilities; Good GIS skills; Proven publication record; Willingness to live and work in remote field conditions; Experience managing small teams (preferably of other ecologists or students); Fluent in English – other languages considered advantageous; Clean drivers licence.
Zimbabwean citizens will be given preference.
Salary and Conditions
The successful candidate will be expected to base full time in the SVC. A field vehicle, some field equipment, and basic accommodation will be provided. Other costs to be covered personally.
The salary is competitive and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
