Organisational Background

The Organisation of Rural Associations for Progress (ORAP) is a leading local NGO involved in development and relief (emergency) work in rural communities in Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Midlands provinces. It exists to fight all forms of poverty among the rural and urban grassroots communities of disadvantaged women, men and youth through the empowerment of people by facilitating their development in their diverse cultural contexts.

Project Summary

The vacancy for the upcoming USAID funded Amalima Loko. The project seeks to improve food security through increased food access and sustainable watershed management. Its purposes are P1: Enhanced and inclusive local ownership over food security and resilience planning and development, P2: Watershed management improved, P3: Adaptive and absorptive capacity improved.

Position summary

The incumbent will work under the Operations Officer and will be required to track commodities to ensure uninterrupted operations at district level.

Duties and Responsibilities

Major Duties/Responsibilities include:-

Receiving and capturing waybills into the Commodity Tracking System daily, during the ration distribution cycle
Conducting weekly stock takes
Compiling the Commodity Status Report, Recipient Status Report, Commodity Loss Report etc and submitting these to the Commodity Accounting Officer, on a monthly basis
Ensuring a continuous supply of fuel and compilation of fuel liquidations
Monitoring fuel usage to ensure that fuel used is commensurate with mileage
Raising Purchase requests for servicing vehicles, motorbikes and generators at district level
Supervising the servicing of motorbikes and generators at district level
Ordering and issuing of supplies at district level
Conducting of procurements such as accommodation and conference bookings, groceries, tyre mending etc, at district level
Ensuring district utility bills are paid and up to date
Collecting of receipts from service providers at district level
Maintaining the asset register at district level
Performing any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:-

HND in Purchasing & Supply Management, Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS), Degree in Operations Research, Degree in Business Administration, Degree in Operations management, Degree in Accounting

Experience:-

At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
A flair for figures.
Customer Service orientation
Good planning and organising skills
Good Judgement skills.
Good oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of ERP System
Excellent computer skills, especially in MS Office applications
