Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above mentioned position which has become vacant in the Engineering Services Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The design, construction and maintenance of municipal water infrastructure treatment storage and distribution, sewerage reticulation, treatment and disposal, roads and storm water drainage and public lighting.
• Town Planning and development control
• Building inspectorate
• Management and maintenance of plant, equipment and vehicles
• General administration including supervision of staff, budget preparation and control
• Preparing reports.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
A successful candidate should have the following qualifications and experience
• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Master's in Civil Engineering or any relevant post-qualification will be an added advantage.
• Membership of a relevant profess ion body
• 5 years post qualification experience
• Clean Class 4 Driver's licence
• No criminal record
CORE COMPETENCE:
• Excellent Civil Engineering and Town Planning skills.
• Knowledge of various accounting packages, including Pastel.
• Excellentrisk analysis skills.
• Knowledge of local authority business and processes.
• Good written communication, inter-personal and negotiating skills.
• Accuracy at figures and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong monitoring and supervision skills.
• Confident.
