Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage and coordinate construction projects in Higher and Tertiary Education Institutions to ensure their successful completion in consultation with the Department of Public Works and Heads of Tertiary Institutions
2. Assess the state and adequacy of infrastructure in the institutions and recommend the construction of appropriate structures where need is identified
3. Consolidate the Ministry's bid for Tertiary !dilutions Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) for funding by Treasury.
4. Base with the Procurement Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) and the National Employment Council on issues to do with ordering of materials and employment of contract workers for PSP projects
5. Vet Architectural designs submitted by institutions and responsible authorities to determine their feasibility and suitability in consultation with Department of Public Works.
6. Guide the Director, Administration on poky issues relating to the construction of infrastructure in stale owned Tertiary Institutions
7. Facilitate the approval of Tertiary Institutions architectural designs by the Department of Public Works.
8. Monitor and evaluate capital projects in Colleges and offer technical advice to the Director, Administration and Colleges authorities on construction issues
9. Manage the disbursement of PSIP building grants to State Institutions
10. Prepare the Ministry's requirements for maintenance of bullrings and present them to the Ministries of Local Government and Public Works and National Housing and Social Amenities
11. Compile monthly and yearly progress reports on completed projects and construction activities underway in the institutions.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architecture
• At least three (3) years experience at Chief Engineering / Architect level or equivalent
• Thorough understanding of construction policies, repetitions and procedures
• Good team leadership
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good interpersonal skills.
