Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibility
 Coordinating student misconduct processes and procedures to ensure consistency and communication.
 Coordinating parental notification process for the University (related to alcohol and drugs violations).
 Reviewing student discipline reports to assure adherence with university code.
 Ensuring that students receive fair disciplinary proceedings in addition to offering educational programs related to student discipline.

Counselling Services

 Counsels and advises students on matters pertaining to personal problems, academic and vocational objective, social and recreational activities.
Administrative Duties
 Assisting the Dean of Students in the performance of his duties.
 Ensuring the efficient management of the Division and quality provision of services to students.
 Providing leadership in identifying, developing and delivering essential student affairs and services programmes.
 Developing a student affairs and services framework that supports the enhancement of student learning outcomes and success.
 Promoting the values of pluralism, diversity and multiculturalism.
 Integrating the mission, vision, programmes and services of student affairs with the academic and other departments of the institutions.

 Preparing and administering budgets and overseeing expenditure of funds.
 Conducting evaluation, assessment and program review on all units in student affairs and services.
 Organising new student orientation sessions and activities.
 Providing appropriate staff supervision and professional development.

Student development

 Planning and implementing student development programmes, enabling students to grow personally, socially, emotionally and academically.
 Initiating and implementing training programmes for students on and off campus.
 Supporting, advocating for and promoting the needs and interests of students.
 Advising and working closely with student leaders to pursue common goals.
 Working with other university officers to provide a safe and secure campus environment in which students learn and grow.
 Conducting research studies on students and their needs.
 Performing other tasks as delegated to by the Dean of Students.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications & Experience

 First Degree in Psychology, Sociology or Education;
 At least four (4) years relevant post qualification experience;
 A qualification in counselling;
 Experience in handling student affairs in a Tertiary Institutions would be a distinct advantage.
