About the Biomedical Research and Training Institute(BRTI)
The BRTI was registered in Zimbabwe in 1995 as a non-profit making organization under Section 22 of the Companies Act (Reg. No.1676/95). The Institute implements research projects and provides training and support services in public health, biomedicine and health research mostly focusing on HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and operational research. Its mission is to promote the health and quality of life of the peoples of Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa Development Community SADC region through fostering research, training and research informed interventions in all fields that are relevant to essential national health needs. The main role of the BRTI is to provide the support that researchers in all aspects of health need to become effective in influencing policy.
The ERASE – TB Study
The ERASE – is an EDCTP funded project TB project which will be conducted in order to fill a critical unmet need for tuberculosis (TB) control. Newly developed diagnostic tests will be evaluated. For this study, 2,100 household contacts of infectious TB patients (700 in Zimbabwe), who are at least 10 years old, will be enrolled. Examinations will be made at baseline and at regular intervals for 1.5 to 2 years. The project will work closely with the National TB program (NTP) and Harare City Health in partnership with collaborators in Mozambique and Tanzania and led by the University of Munich, Germany.
Position summary
We are seeking the services of a Data Assistant to join the ESASE-TB Study Project. The candidate will be responsible for entering all relevant data from questionnaires into an electronic data entry software. The candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills ; Self motivation and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment; Work in a rapidly changing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job description
Carry out manual quality control of all received data; Capture data into an electronic data entry platform with minimal entry error; File all hard copies of questionnaires; Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field of study. Experience with OPENCLINICA or any electronic data capture technologies; Use of computer technology, including databases and related applications.
